Montecristo
Montecristo, established in 1935 by Alonso Menendez, quickly rose to prominence in the cigar world. The brand’s name and logo, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ novel “The Count of Monte Cristo,” reflect a rich heritage intertwined with literary elegance. Originally produced in the Particulares factory and later moved to the H. Upmann factory, Montecristo cigars became renowned for their medium to full-bodied flavors, appealing to both novice and veteran smokers. Despite challenges, including the Cuban Revolution and subsequent nationalization, Montecristo continued to thrive, achieving global popularity with iconic cigars like the Montecristo No. 2 and No. 4. Today, Montecristo remains a symbol of excellence, representing a quarter of Habanos SA’s worldwide sales, and is celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and distinctive taste.
