Diplomáticos cigars, established in 1966 post-Cuban Revolution, were created as a more affordable alternative to the popular Montecristo brand, primarily targeting the French market. Produced in the José Martí factory, Diplomáticos cigars are known for their medium-to-full strength, using high-quality tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. The brand’s vitolas, such as the Diplomáticos No. 2 Piramides, mirror those of Montecristo, offering a similar flavor profile but with milder nuances. Despite a more limited production, Diplomáticos has garnered a dedicated following worldwide, especially through its inclusion in the Edición Regional program since 2012, which has seen the release of several highly coveted regional editions. This selective distribution has only increased the brand’s allure among discerning aficionados, making Diplomáticos a symbol of refined Cuban craftsmanship.
