Romeo y Julieta

Established in 1875 by Inocencio Alvarez and Manin García, Romeo y Julieta quickly became one of the most renowned Cuban cigar brands, named after Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. The brand truly flourished under the ownership of José “Pepin” Rodriguez Fernandez, who acquired it in 1903 and marketed it vigorously across Europe and the Americas. Known for their exceptional quality, Romeo y Julieta cigars gained a prestigious reputation, attracting affluent customers, including Winston Churchill, for whom their flagship vitola, the Churchill, is named. Despite the Cuban Revolution and the brand’s subsequent nationalization, Romeo y Julieta cigars continue to be produced in Cuba, maintaining their rich tradition and global popularity. Today, the brand is celebrated for its medium-strength, robust, and complex cigars, handcrafted using premium tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region, making it a staple in the world of premium cigars.
