Tatuaje Black Gran Toro (20) is a refined Nicaraguan Gran Toro from Tatuaje’s Black Label Private Reserve line — a generous, medium-to-full bodied expression that showcases rich Criollo character, elegant spice, and the brand’s signature Cuban-inspired depth.
Handcrafted in Nicaragua at the My Father Cigars factory, this cigar is a true Nicaraguan puro, featuring a Nicaraguan Sun Grown Criollo wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Originally created as Pete Johnson’s personal blend, the Black Label profile delivers a bold yet polished smoking experience with excellent construction, layered aroma, and a naturally sweet Nicaraguan finish.
The smoking experience opens with cedar, leather, roasted coffee, and warm spice, gradually developing into notes of cinnamon, cocoa, earth, toasted nuts, oak, black pepper, and subtle natural sweetness. As the Gran Toro progresses, the larger format allows the blend to unfold with a cooler draw and greater depth, finishing with a long combination of coffee richness, cedar warmth, leather, and lingering Criollo spice.
This Black Label Gran Toro measures 6 1/2” (165mm) with a 52 ring gauge, offering approximately 80–100 minutes of medium-to-full bodied smoking.
Our suggestion for cigars of similar strength:
- Plasencia Alma Fuerte Nestor IV
- Davidoff Nicaragua Toro
Ideal with aged rum, espresso, smooth bourbon, or dark roast coffee — pairings that complement its cedar structure, roasted coffee depth, and warm Criollo spice without overpowering the profile.
