Tatuaje ME II Churchill is the elegant, long-format expression of Pete Johnson’s Mexican Experiment — a slim-ring Churchill that stretches the line’s San Andrés depth into an unhurried, classically proportioned smoke.
Handcrafted in Nicaragua at the Garcia family’s My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, this cigar wears a deep, oily Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and aged Nicaraguan long-fillers, finished with a soft box press that gives the elongated silhouette a refined, hand-shaped character.
The smoking experience opens with dark chocolate, cedar, and a measured peppercorn warmth, then evolves through a long, layered midsection of espresso, leather, oak, brown sugar, and toasted nuts — finishing with hints of raisin sweetness, baking spice, vanilla, and a lingering mole-like depth. The slimmer 48 ring gauge concentrates the wrapper’s influence beautifully, giving the smoke a focused, refined character that the bigger ring vitolas don’t deliver.
This box-pressed Churchill vitola measures 6 1/2″ (165mm) with a 48 ring gauge, hand-rolled for approximately 90–105 minutes of medium-to-full smoking.
Our suggestion for cigars of similar strength:
Ideal with single-malt Highland Scotch, vintage port, espresso, or a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon — pairings that match the cigar’s leisurely, unhurried character and complement the San Andrés wrapper’s chocolate-and-brown-sugar richness without overpowering the Churchill’s elegant proportions.
