Tatuaje ME II Toro is the box-pressed Mexican Experiment from Pete Johnson’s catalog — a regular-production reimagining of the original limited-edition ME blend, dressed in dark Mexican leaf and built to highlight everything that makes San Andrés tobacco unforgettable.
Handcrafted in Nicaragua at the Garcia family’s My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, this cigar wears a deep, oily Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and aged Nicaraguan long-fillers, finished with a soft box press that frames the cigar’s brawny, bronze-hued shape and concentrates every flavor the smoke produces.
The smoking experience opens with rich dark chocolate, peppercorn, and a savory earth-and-leather core, then evolves into a layered midsection of espresso, oak, brown sugar, toasted nuts, and creamy maduro warmth — finishing with hints of raisin sweetness, baking spice, vanilla, and a long, mole-like depth that makes the San Andrés wrapper sing. Every puff is dense, chewy, and unmistakably Mexican.
This box-pressed Toro vitola measures 5 3/4″ (146mm) with a 50 ring gauge, hand-rolled for approximately 75–90 minutes of medium-to-full smoking.
Our suggestion for cigars of similar strength:
Ideal with añejo tequila, aged dark rum, espresso, or a barrel-aged stout — pairings that amplify the cigar’s chocolate-and-brown-sugar core and complement the San Andrés wrapper’s distinctive earthy richness without overshadowing its layered Mexican character.
